Window Tinting Solutions for Homeowners

Most homeowners call about one specific problem: a room that gets unbearably hot by afternoon, a TV washed out by glare, hardwood floors fading faster than expected, or a street-facing window where neighbors can see in. Window tinting solves each of these without replacing your glass, without construction disruption, and typically in a single visit.

CoolVu residential films block up to 80% of solar heat (Signature Ceramic line: 38-82% TSER), reject 99% of UV rays across every product, and reduce glare by up to 89% (Silver Reflective 15). Privacy films range from frosted options that obscure the view entirely to one-way mirror films that let you see out while blocking the view in during daytime. Every residential film carries a lifetime warranty on most products.

Common Problems We Solve for Homeowners

Hot Rooms

West- and south-facing rooms that become unusable by afternoon. Signature Ceramic 10 rejects 82% of solar energy. Your AC runs less and the room stays comfortable without blocking the view.

Fading Floors & Furniture

UV is the primary driver of fading in hardwood, carpet, rugs, artwork, and upholstery. Every CoolVu film blocks 99% of UV. Stops the damage at the glass before it reaches what you are protecting.

Glare on Screens

Afternoon sun washing out TVs and monitors. Solar films cut glare sharply, Silver Reflective 15 reduces glare by 84%, Dual Reflective 10 by 89%, while keeping rooms bright.

Privacy

Street-facing windows, bathroom glass, and ground-floor units where passersby can see in. One-way mirror for daytime privacy with a view, frosted for full 24/7 obscuration, decorative for style plus privacy.

Safety Glass

Sliding doors, patio glass, and ground-floor windows reinforced with security film. Holds shattered glass together on impact, protecting children and delaying forced entry.

Turf & Siding Damage

Energy-efficient Low-E windows reflecting concentrated heat onto artificial turf or vinyl siding. TurfProtect film applied to the glass stops the reflection at the source.

Common Questions

Is residential window tinting worth the investment?
Residential window tinting typically pays for itself through energy savings within two to four years, depending on glass exposure and the film selected. CoolVu Signature Ceramic films reject up to 82% of total solar energy, directly reducing air conditioning costs on sun-exposed rooms. Every film blocks 99% of UV, which prevents costly fading damage to hardwood floors, furniture, and artwork. The film is applied to existing glass in a single visit with no construction, no mess, and no window replacement. Most CoolVu residential films carry a lifetime warranty on most products. For homes with hot rooms, glare issues, or fading concerns, the combination of comfort improvement, UV protection, and energy savings makes window tinting one of the highest-return home improvements available.
Will window tinting make my home dark inside?
Not unless you choose a dark film. CoolVu offers films across a wide range of visible light transmittance. Signature Ceramic 70 transmits 66% of visible light, rooms stay bright and natural-looking. HD 70 transmits 69% with high optical clarity. These films block significant heat and 99% of UV while keeping the interior well-lit. Darker options like DarkVu 10 (10% VLT) or Silver Reflective 15 (14% VLT) are available for rooms where maximum heat rejection or privacy is the priority, but they are chosen deliberately, not the default. We bring samples to every consultation so you can see the light level on your actual glass before committing.
Does window tinting damage or void window warranties?
When properly specified, window film does not void window warranties. The key is matching the film to the glass type. Dark or highly absorptive films on sealed double-pane units can cause thermal stress if the wrong film is used. CoolVu Signature Ceramic and DarkVu films are engineered with low solar absorptance specifically to be safe on double-pane and Low-E glass. We verify your glass type (single-pane, double-pane, Low-E, tempered) during the on-site consultation and recommend only films that are compatible. This prevents thermal stress and keeps your window manufacturer warranty intact.
How long does residential window tinting take to install?
Most residential window tinting jobs are completed in a single day. A typical home with 10 to 15 windows takes four to six hours. The installer cleans each pane, precision-cuts the film, applies it with a positioning solution, and squeezes out air and moisture. Furniture does not need to be moved away from windows in most cases, and rooms are usable immediately after installation. The film cures fully over 15 to 30 days, during curing, small moisture pockets may be visible but they disappear as the adhesive sets. We schedule installations at a time that works for your household.
Can window tinting be removed if I sell my home?
Yes. CoolVu window films can be professionally removed without damaging the glass. The adhesive is designed to release cleanly. However, most homeowners leave the film in place when selling because it is a value-add for buyers, energy savings, UV protection, and comfort are selling points. If a buyer prefers different glass aesthetics, the film can be removed and the windows returned to their original state. We handle removal as a service if needed.
